Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up at 10:00 a.m. at Shannon Airport. We will proceed to Connemara , traversing from County Clare to County Galway, sightseeing along the way. Our check-in at the Cashel House will be mid-afternoon. . . which will give us time to explore the beautiful grounds before we have our Welcome Dinner in the Conservatory overlooking the front garden.
Day 2 & 3: Connemara is both peaceful and haunting at the same time. We have 2 days of exquisite tours planned for you here. You will be mesmerized by the serene countryside, beautiful fjord, breathtaking Atlantic Ocean vistas, and bustling villages. We will be visiting the villages of Roundstone, Clifden , Leenane. ..and exploring the Connemara Loop, the Inagh Valley Loop, the Killary Fjord, and the grounds of Ballinalachen Castle. If time and weather permit we will take a wee tour of Joyce Country , and possibly lift a Guiness or two at several of Ireland’s most famous pubs, Gaynors and Hamiltons in Leenane on the Kilary Fjord. . .
Day 4, 5 & 6:The Dingle Peninsula was once named by National Geographic photographers as the most beautiful place on earth. We agree. You will see sites that are absolutely jaw-dropping and we allow time to savor and reflect on what we see. Sites included: The Slea Head Drive, ruins of the schoolhouse from “Ryan’s Daughter,” the South Pole—one of Ireland’s most famous pubs, Minard’s Castle and the pristine Stone Beach, Lake Annascaul and Tom Crean’s grave. . . and much more. If the weather allows we will travel over the breathtaking Conor Pass. As if that were not enough. . . we are going to hear nightly the most exhilarating traditional music Ireland has to offer.
Day 7, 8 & 9: County Clare is known for its dramatic Atlantic shoreline, charming villages, and lush green countryside. We will enjoy many of these villages including; Ennistymon, Lahinch, Doolin, Liscannor, Lisdoonvarna, Ennis and Fanore. One day we explore along the Gold Coast and tour the mystical Burren. . . a unique rocky landscape, as well as the Burren Perfumery & Poulnabrone Dolmen. Our final afternoon will be spent at the exquisite Dromoland Castle where we will enjoy high tea in grand luxury and top off the afternoon with a stroll through the enchanted Walled Garden. A perfect ending to an exceptional tour!
Day 10: Early morning transport to Shannon Airport.
Our Irish Favorites
|
St. James Church in Dingle Town is the site of
some of the best music in all of Ireland. This once abandoned building has been revamped and now has the best
acoustics found anywhere. Concerts are held here Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights during the season. The church
is located right in the middle of Dingle Town. Some absolutely exquisite musicians we have heard here include:
Tommy O’Sullivan, Eoin Duignan and Ger O’Beirne. This venue is absolutely amazing! |
|
Ballintubber Abbey is a 14th c. royal abbey located in a rural area in County Mayo.
It is the only church in Ireland founded by an Irish king that is still in daily use. Several ruins
on the site are reported to have been visited by St.Patrick in 441 A.D. From this abbey, a pilgrims’
way which has been in use for over 1,000 years, leads to Croagh Patrick, a mountain 35km away. At the
entrance to the Pilgrims’ Way we often conduct a service "For Those Who Have Gone Before" for anyone
who cares to partake.

|
Stephon is our main guide on the
island of Inis Oirr, our favorite of the 3 Aran Islands. Stephon and his team, who were born and raised on this wee island,
provide a pony and cart for us as we disembark from the ferry from the main land. Our tour includes a tour around the island
featuring the ruins of an O’Brien Castle, a hill-side graveyard, a ship tossed ashore years ago by a storm, the most amazing
rock walls you will ever see and the incredible Inis Oirr shoreline. Stephon’s most famous line is,” Ireland is that island
that is located right off the shore of Inis Oirr.” His main horse is named, “Mahtilda”. |
|
The Cashel House Hotel in Connemara is our
favorite place to stay. Nothing that we have ever seen can compete with this charming, traditional country house. Built in the 19th century,
it is sited on over 50 acres of award-winning gardens and woods. The property overlooks Cashel Bay and is quiet and secluded. This gracious and
elegant manor house itself is everything you could possibly wish for in a vacation destination: large, beautifully decorated rooms, turf burning
fireplaces, crystal chandeliers, quiet drawing rooms and library and an exceptional dining experience! We always receive a genuine, warm welcome
by the McEvilly’s, the owners or Ray, the manager. www.cashelhouse.ie |
|
Kieran and Jon O’Connell are musical
brothers from Lahinch, County Clare. Eoin O’Neill, a musician from that area, suggested we hire the O’Connells for our farewell night.
We are so glad we did. The O’Connells play a variety of music. We prefer to hear the traditional Irish ballads. If you would like to
sample something they have done, check this out on You Tube: 14th Annual Corofin Traditional Festival 2015 with Kieran O’Connell. |
|
O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub in Dingle Town,
Dingle Peninsula. This pub, with music inspired and led by Tommy O’Sullivan, has the best music any pub in Ireland has to offer! Be prepared to be
wowed!!! If you are lucky enough to go to Dingle you will be drawn to this place again and again! Tommy, a well-known musician, is not only a wizard
at the guitar but has a beautiful voice. Saundra, his elegant wife, often contributes to the evening’s festivities with her beautiful ballads.

Siopa Ceoil is a music shop located in an old fisherman’s
cottage on the wharf area of Dingle Town. We have been absolutely delighted by the concerts we have heard here over the years. Concerts
are offered on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with different talented entertainers each night. During intermission guests are served a
delicious Irish Coffee. Some of Ireland’s most famous dancers, singers and musicians have performed in this wee, intimate cottage for
us including: Seamus Begley, David Geaney & Donogh Hennessy. Step into this charming shop, check it out for a moment, and you will
likely be greeted by the owners, Michael or Dara Herlighy. www.siopaceoil.ie |

Gavin Lavelle – Don’t go to Clifden
without popping into Lavelle’s Art Gallery…..right on the main street. Lavelle’s gallery is located in the owner’s grandparent’s original home but
you wouldn’t know it once you are in it. He is a well-known artist in Ireland as well as the European Continent and the United States. Stop in and
check out the wonderful original art displayed here…..his own as well as several other talented Irish artists. Gavin is a great storyteller and knows
just about everything regarding the area he lives in. We have asked him to speak to our group regarding creativity ….because not only is he one of
the most creative people we know…..he is successful at it!. www.lavelleartgallery.ie |
|
John Hooton, award-winning photographer,
is Ireland On My Mind’s photographer of choice. Whenever we include a photography session on one of our tours, he drags us out to disserted beaches,
abandoned buildings and historical ruins and we couldn’t be happier! All of us always say our photography skills improve drastically after a lesson
from John, inspite of our varied levels of skills and equipment. www.john-hooton.com |
|
Dromoland Castle – We usually end our tours with
an elegant farewell tea or lunch at this majestic castle once owned by the fighting O’Brien clan. As you enter the castle gates a winding road brings
you through lush, green lawns with beautiful lake views. Stroll with us to the main dining room and view the grand staircase, glittering chandeliers,
ornate fireplaces, and exceptional original artwork. The extraordinary 18th c. walled garden is adjacent to the castle. This is our favorite way to
end a tour! www.dromoland.ie

Irish Musicians. Over the years,
we have gotten to know many well-known and talented Traditional Irish Musicians! You will hear and even meet many of them on our tours. We pub
crawl every night we are in an Irish village! The music is outstanding and not to be missed. |
|
The Kane Sisters. We hired the Kane Sisters,
Liz and Yvonne, Letterfrack, County Galway, to play for our group and everyone said that without a doubt these were best Irish fiddlers they had
ever heard! The Kanes grew up playing together and are just as enjoyable on a personal level as they are as musicians.

Scenes from the Quiet Man Movie. Even if you are
not a Quiet Man aficionado you will love the sites we explore found in this 1951 classic: the Quiet Man Bridge, John Wayne’s favorite pub while on
location for the filming, the village of Cong, the grounds of Ashford Castle, the Connemara Loop, Glassilaun Beach, White O’Morn Cottage, John Wayne
and Maureen O’Hara Statue and more! , |

O’Brien’s Tours.We always use Bill O’Brien’s
Boats to ferry across Galway Bay to Inish Oirr. His customer service is terrific, his boats are always on time. he has a great record of no major accidents.
Combine that with the fact that Bill, himself is always on the wharf to watch over everything is a winning combination! www.obrienline.com
